Seven Bridges talks genomics with MongoDB and AstraZeneca
Our CEO, Deniz Kural, recently joined Jason Tetrault, Architect at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, for a panel discussion of topics in genomics and pharmaceuticals in an event hosted by MongoDB. Before the panel, Jason gave what he described as a “fairly inaccurate overview of genetics processing” from the sequencer to the VCF file; we actually thought that his depiction of sequencers as genome “shredders” worked well! Jason’s talk – which included references to both JSON and MTV – highlighted the complexity of “big data” analysis in genomics.
During the panel, Deniz explained the Seven Bridges Platform and how MongoDB is used to power Seven Bridges’ pipeline analytics. Deniz and Jason also touched upon indexing, StarCluster, and the origins of the hg19 reference genome.
Check out the video above to learn why someone at 23andMe might one day be very perplexed to see a genome with no variants (for the panel, skip to 21:45).
